This auction is for an Apple IIgs ROM 1 system (model A2S6000W) with 512kB RAM, an increasingly rare 3.5” floppy drive, a compatible (if not original-model) keyboard and mouse, together with a few little accessories to get you started. The system and the drive have been inspected, serviced and cleaned, inside and out, and have been successfully tested using the built-in and a disk-based suite of self tests, and by happily running software including ADTPro and GS/OS / System 5.0.2 (see this Youtube playlist for HD videos of these tests).

As part of its test and repairs, the following steps were undertaken:

• the power supply was inspected, its voltages tested, and its 100uF 450V capacitor was replaced (as the old one was showing visible signs of ageing);
• the IIgs' backup battery was replaced with a new 1/2AA 3.6V Li-SOCl2 cell;
• the IIgs' composite and RGB video outputs were tested (see the 'black-and-white' and colour ADTPro images above);
• the floppy drive was dismantled and re-lubricated; and
• the little gear in the drive's auto-eject motor (that is notorious for stripping) was replaced and the retaining plate was reinforced (as one of the associated clips had also broken).

Functionally, everything is in perfect working order, and physically, it's also in pretty good condition. The IIgs' case is showing some signs of yellowing (when compared to the plastic underneath where an older identifying label used to be) and the front 'lip' has been engraved with the name its original owner, however neither is particularly distracting (see the above photos) — all in all, not bad for a machine that's over 30 years old now.

Please note that this auction includes only the following items:

• the Apple IIgs system itself;
• an Apple 3.5“ floppy drive (model A9M0106);
• a compatible ADB keyboard and mouse;
• a set of ten double-density 3.5” new-old-stock floppy disks (including those with the IIgs test suite, GS/OS System 5.0.2, Virtual II and ADTPro on them);
• an 8-pin Mini-DIN to DE9 serial cable (which, together with the ADTPro disk, can be used to transfer other disk images to the IIgs from any modern machine with a standard 'PC-style' RS232 port or USB adapter);
• a spare / replacement gear for the disk drive's eject mechanism; and
• optionally, a IIgs-to-Commodore 1084-serial RGB monitor cable.

The monitor itself is not included. Once the auction has concluded, I'd also be happy to sell the winning bidder an optional 5.25“ disk drive.

Although this item will be packed securely prior to shipping, given the age of this product (and as this is a private sale), no guarantee is provided, nor will returns be accepted. Im Rahmen der Tests und Reparaturen wurden die folgenden Schritte durchgeführt:

• das Netzteil wurde überprüft, seine Spannungen getestet und sein 100uF 450V Kondensator wurde ersetzt (da der alte Kondensator sichtbare Anzeichen der Alterung zeigte);
• die Backup-Batterie des IIgs wurde durch eine neue 1/2AA 3,6V Li-SOCl2-Zelle ersetzt;
• die Composite- und RGB-Videoausgänge des IIgs wurden getestet (siehe die obige “Schwarz-Weiß”- und Farb-ADTPro-Bilder);
• das Diskettenlaufwerk wurde zerlegt und neu geschmiert; und
• das zerbrechliche kleine Zahnrad im Auto-Eject-Motor des Laufwerks wurde ersetzt und die Halteplatte wurde verstärkt (da eine der zugehörigen Klemmen ebenfalls gebrochen war).

Funktionell ist alles in einwandfreiem Zustand, und auch physisch ist das Gerät in einem ziemlich guten Zustand. Das IIgs-Gehäuse weist einige Vergilbungserscheinungen auf (im Vergleich zum Plastik darunter, wo sich ein älteres Identifizierungsetikett befand), und in die vordere “Lippe” wurde der Name des ursprünglichen Besitzers eingraviert, aber beides stört nicht sonderlich (siehe die obigen Fotos) - alles in allem nicht schlecht für ein Gerät, das mittlerweile über 30 Jahre alt ist.
